For those who don’t know , Rangoli, it’s an Indian art of creating colorful patterns on the floor with chalk and colored chalk powder or powdered food/spices. Considered auspicious and to bring good luck , it’s drawn free hand and there is no right or wrong in the pattern.
Here are some examples:
Today, I am bringing that art on my nails…
-I Started off with a single coat of Sally Hansen Satin Glam Polish in 01 Go Gold. It’s a Smooth satin finish golden.
-Once the base color is absolutely dry, divide nail into 4 sections with a striping tape.
– Using a bright color, I used Opi Red Hot Rio from the Brazil Collection 2014, paint alternate sections and let it dry.
– Now, Paint one section on each nail with a contrasting bright color.. I used Yellow Rimmel London 710 Sunny Days, Essie I’M Addicted Neon Blue .
For Accent nail, I applied Seche Vite Top coat on one section and using a nail art brush, dabbed Magenta glitter on it.
– Let it all dry. Take nail brush dipped in acetone to remove extra polish around the nail after removing the striping tapes. Top it off with a top coat, I used the holographic Nails Inc. Electric Lane because there is no such thing as “too much glitter and sparkle” 🙂
Also, glitter adds that spark brought on by lighted tea lights in the rangoli.
